Actor and TV host Adam Richman dropped by CBS Sports Radio’s Gio and Jones on Thursday to discuss his show, “Secret Eats,” which has Richman traveling the globe to discover unique dishes.

Richman, who has starred in a variety of food programs, including “Man v. Food,” is the actor and producer of “Secret Eats.”

“I think ‘Man Finds Food’ (and) ‘Secret Eats’ (are) the same show,” Richman said. “Travel Channel titled the second season ‘Secret Eats’ to sort of make it a little more clear as to what the subject matter was. But I think for me, I like the fact that No. 1, I involve my crew. As you guys know, you got engineers in the other room; you got folks who actually help do this stuff. You see my crew there, and it’s so legit. I don’t want it to be like, ‘Oh, there’s Adam pretending to be lost.’ I think to also have them try the food (is important so) that it’s not just me making my O-face overtime I try a really good burger. I think that keeping it 100 has sadly become at a premium in a lot of television. I don’t want to be that guy. I couldn’t afford cable until I got on cable, and I think there’s a debt of respect I owe anybody who watches me.”

Richman’s entire crew doesn’t work every location for every episode, but there is certainly some overlap.

“We always have variations,” he said. “Large members of my crew are not like me and disappointing their mothers at every turn, and they are married with children. And me, I have a really nice X-Box. Obviously they need to spend time with their families, but I’m working with crew members that I’ve worked with since Season 1 of ‘Man v. Food.’”

That includes director and producer Cat Pappas, who Richman, 42, has known for 20 years.

“She’s twice as funny as I’ve been on my best day,” Richman said. “I work with some awesome folks.”

‘Secret Eats’ is Richman’s first international show – a responsibility he doesn’t take lightly.

“It’s easy to go international and travel in a luxurious way and do something that’s aspirational and cool for Instagram,” Richman said. “But again, I try to keep it real. I understand that if people are traveling with a family of four, that’s extremely expensive and dealing with kids (while traveling can be difficult).”
