The Baltimore Ravens (7-5) will play the New England Patriots (10-2) in Foxboro on Monday night, and while there’s no way to guarantee which team will win, odds are it’ll be a close game.

After all, Baltimore is 3-4 against New England since January 2010, including 2-2 in the playoffs, and six of the last nine meetings have been decided by a touchdown or less.

“I think the line in the sand was drawn in 2010,” Super Bowl champion and Ravens radio analyst Qadry Ismail said on CBS Sports Radio’s Gio and Jones. “There was a 33-14 game in the playoffs. Ray Rice, first play of the game, he takes it to the house and they never looked back. I think that was really the blow across the bow of the Patriots, the evil empire that it is up there in Foxboro, and I think they did a good Jedi mind trick on them in saying, ‘We are going to do what we do, and we’re going to do it well. We’re going to hit you in the mouth.’”

The Ravens have done in that in just about every meeting since, even in defeat.

“From that point forward, it was AFC Championship games where you could see it wasn’t about New England just running away with it, but it was about sound defense as well as Joe Flacco making plays,” Ismail said. “I think they had met in the playoffs all four times up in New England and they’re 2-2. So I think just overall, you see the confidence of a John Harbaugh-led ball club going up into New England, very prepared, not (worried about what might happen). There is no ‘What do we do if.’ They’re very confident in going out there and executing their assignments. That’s why you have such a good competitive battle. But then also, you can also see the Ravens, especially during the playoffs, coming away with victories.”

Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m. ET.
