NBA TV host Jared Greenberg joined Gio And Jones on CBS Sports Radio. The main topic of conversation was Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, who has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately.

Most recently, he was fined early Tuesday for publicly berating a columnist at the Sacramento Bee. In Tuesday’s game, he dropped 55 points in a win over the Trail Blazers, was ejected, then unejected towards the end of the game.

“DeMarcus Cousins is the gift that keeps on giving for the media,” Greenberg said. “If he were to play anywhere else, it would be the first question you ask me today. It’s amazing what is going on with him last night. He gets thrown out of the game the same night he offers his apology and apparently gets fined $50,000 by the team for going on this profanity rant to a reporter. Last night he scores 55 points, gets thrown out of a game, and then the referee realized he made a mistake, gets him back out of the locker room to shoot free throws after he was fouled in an unejection. When’s the last time you saw that at any level of basketball?”

What do the Kings do with Cousins?

“I’ve been on the fence with DeMarcus for a long time. I think that he has the opportunity to use the organization against themselves. We understand how unstable that organization is, how many different head coaches he’s had in such a short period of time. Now I think he has a great one. His relationship with Dave Joerger has gone really well, but the ownership aspect, the management aspect, has been chaos in Sacramento for him. If he were to just keep his head on straight and be a little mature, then I think most people in the basketball world would be willing to give him a pass because of the organizational issues they have there. People would be begging for him to be traded to another team. He’s the best offensive center in the NBA by far, head and shoulders on both sides of the basketball. But there are teams that have questions right now if they want to risk giving up assets for him because of how volatile he might be because you don’t know if it’s a product of him being in that organization or a product of DeMarcus Cousins being DeMarcus Cousins.”
